Community COVID-19 Vaccines
UPDATE 1/11/21 at 1:30 PM: At this time, all COVID-19 vaccine clinic dates and waitlist spots have been filled. We kindly ask you to please not call the scheduling line at this time. As soon as we are able to accommodate additional vaccines, we will notify our community. If you have already left a message to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine at our facility, please be patient as we work through our waiting list. If there is an opportunity for you to receive the vaccine at another entity sooner than we can reach you, please feel free to do so. Thank you for your patience as we work hard to streamline our process of providing the COVID-19 vaccine to our community members.
UP Health System - Portage is pleased to continue offering COVID-19 vaccinations in accordance with prioritization guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the federal government, and our state.
We are currently in phase 1B of vaccination, which includes:
- Residents ages 65 and older
- Frontline essential workers including:
- Pre-Kindergarten through high school teachers, support staff, and child care workers who usually have direct contact with children;
- First responders (firefighters, police, conservation officers, inspectors);
- Correction workers (staff in prison, jails, juvenile justice facilities);
- Workers in homeless shelters, congregate child care institutions, and adult and child protective services.
Currently, local healthcare entities are focusing on the population of ages 65 and older. Eligible frontline essential workers should reach out to their employers. Employers will be working with the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department for their vaccine scheduling.
Those who fall into the 65 and older category may call to schedule appointments once we are able to accommodate additional vaccines. We will notify our community when additional vaccine clinics become available.
Vaccine clinics are by appointment only. No walk-in vaccination clinics will be held at this time.
Please bring a valid driver's license and medical insurance information to your clinic appointment time. The COVID-19 vaccine is available at no cost to you. Vaccine supply remains limited and scheduling is based upon availability. We encourage everyone in our community to be a hero and get vaccinated once the vaccine is more widely available to our community members, hopefully in the coming months. #VaccineHero
