To give you greater peace of mind, Portage Health offers many screenings. These screenings are designed to keep you, and our community, healthy and vibrant in the years ahead. Not only do screenings give you peace of mind, but they can catch early signs of several health isssues before they become a problem.

    Total Lipid + Glucose

This lab test provides you with total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides as well as your glucose level. Speak to your primary care provider about getting this screening. Occasionally, one of Portage Health's community events will include this screening as part of the program. A 12-hour fast is required for accurate results.

    Bone Density

Knowing your bone density helps determine if you're at increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures. The information from a bone density screening is used to aid a decision as to whether prescription medicine therapy is needed to help reduce the risk of fracture. Talk to your doctor about getting a bone density screening.

    Blood Pressure

This screening helps to determine the amount of pressure the blood is exerting against the walls of the blood vessels, particularly the arteries.  High blood pressure not only increases risk for heart disease and stroke, but also kidney disease and blindness. High blood pressure (hypertension) is called the silent killer. This is because many people who have it don’t know it. Normal blood pressure is less than 120/80. Know your blood pressure and remember to check it regularly. Doing so can save your life. Talk to your doctor about this important screening. Portage Health Home Care and Hospice holds regular blood pressure clinics throughout the community. Find one that works for you to know your numbers.

    Skin Cancer Screening

The risk of getting skin cancer is real. The good news is that you can reduce your risk. Portage Health partners with Marquette General's dermatologists and Cancer Center to offer regular skin screening clinics.

    Wheelchair Clinics

Having a properly fitted wheelchair or assistive equipment makes all the difference. Our wheelchair clinic offers help in choosing the best equipment for you. We also help with any repairs or adjustments your equipment needs. Click here for a full schedule.
