Expertise

As a geriatrician, I am specialized in the care of older adults, particularly those with multiple chronic illnesses. My training includes:

  • Diagnosis and management of older adults with dementia
  • Assessment and treatment of patients with geriatric syndromes, such as frequent falls, dizziness, cognitive impairment (delirium and dementia), urinary incontinence, frailty, and problems with mobility
  • Care of patients with life limiting illnesses and those at the end of life
  • Symptom and disease management for patients with chronic diseases (such as heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cancer), particularly for those with advanced stages of disease
  • Discussions about patient preferences for medical treatment, goals of medical care, and advance care planning
  • Medication management for older adults
  • Assessment of decision making capacity
  • Diagnosis and treatment of diseases that occur in older adults, from typical to atypical presentations
