Portage Health Foundation
The Portage Health Foundation is a charitable, non-profit organization established in 1990 to support the mission of Portage Health. This mission includes the provision of medical services in multiple settings such as physician services, acute inpatient care, emergency care, outpatient services, home care and elderly living.
Ways to give to the foundation
Planned giving (or deferred gifts)
A gift that you donate through your estate plan or your accumulated wealth. Usually your will, trusts, or gift annuities are used. Gifts of life insurance and real estate are also considered planned gifts.
Special projects, fund raisers or endowed campaigns
A gift that can be designated as restricted (for a specific use, such as Hospice fund) or unrestricted (to be used wherever it is needed).
Annual appeal
A gift that is given on an annual basis to support the operation and work of Portage Health.
Tax benefits
Federal tax benefits: All gifts given to the foundation qualify as an itemized deduction under the Federal Tax Code.
State tax benefits: Only gifts given through our Portage Health Foundation Designated Agency fund at the Keweenaw Community Foundation (KCF) qualify for the Michigan Community Foundation Tax Credit.
