Oct. 24 event talking about speech therapy's role in aiding meaningful communication with loved ones with dementia

Speech therapy can be a vital tool to help maintain meaningful communication between loved ones, and those with dementia. At this month’s rehab lecture series, speech therapist Amy Haske will explain how and why.

Dementia Rehab Lecture“My goal for patients with dementia is to help them communicate as effectively as possible, for as long as possible,” Haske said. “Every ounce of meaningful communication keeps these relationships more vibrant and long lasting for the individual with dementia, and their family.”

Haske will cover common language barriers during communication, strategies to enhance meaningful and stress-free interactions with a loved one with dementia, and the role of speech therapy as dementia progresses.

Following the presentation, Haske will lead a short question-and-answer session, and offer time for free consults regarding skilled intervention.
