Portage Health is proud to welcome Dr. Katriina Hopper to the Portage Internal Medicine Associates. Dr. Hopper is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine, and will be seeing patients at Portage Health’s main location in Hancock starting in late July 2013.

Dr. Hopper comes to the Copper Country from New Haven, Connecticut, where she completed post-doctoral fellowships in geriatric clinical epidemiology and geriatric medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.
“Bringing my expertise to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has always been my goal,” said Dr. Hopper, who is originally from the U.P. “I couldn’t be more excited to join the experienced staff at Portage Health.”
Dr. Hopper became board certified in internal medicine in 2010, and in geriatrics in 2012. Prior to completing two fellowships at Yale University, she completed traditional internal medicine residency at the university. She earned her doctorate degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
Her expertise includes diagnosis and management of older adults with dementia, assessment and treatment of patients with geriatric syndromes, care of patients with life-limiting illnesses, medication management for older adults, advance care planning, symptom and disease management for patients with chronic diseases, assessment of decision-making capacity, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that occur in older adults and more.
