HANCOCK — More than 500 people attended Portage Health's annual Health and Safety Fair Saturday at the main campus in Hancock.

"We had even more people this year than last year, and many were returning visitors," said organizer Angela Lucas, Director of Community Health at Portage Health. "I think word is getting out that the free screenings are a good way to be proactive about preventive health in an affordable way."

Many attendees took part in a car seat clinic, where experts reviewed car seats for child safety and suggested changes or replacements. Hospital tours also offered a chance for the general public to learn more about the latest technology at Portage Health and chat with healthcare professionals one-on-one.

Raffles, giveaways, Click-it the Cricket and a crash test dummy also added to the family-friendly event. "It's always our intent to offer activities of interest to community members of all ages," Lucas said. "By seeing the smiles and the positive feedback from the community, I think we succeeded."
