HANCOCK –
Dr. Mansoor Khokhar joined Portage Health in July 2011, and in October, Dr. Khokhar was successful in becoming board certified.

“I have that sense of achievement for hitting a target that I’ve worked hard at for a long time,” he said. “I’m enjoying the satisfaction of knowing my effort and hard work has formally been recognized.”
Dr. Khokhar, a hospitalist at Portage Health, has been in the medical field for more than 28 years.
“With a previous background in surgery, this learning, training and qualification from a medicine point of view has given me a more in-depth appreciation of the disease process that we encounter and the treatment options that are available to best suit the patient,” he said. “I know each patient has their own feelings, impressions, and views of their disease, the treatment and the after effects. I try to provide answers and information to all these aspects, not only to the patient, but to the family as well.”
Dr. Khokhar came to the Copper Country after time spent at
The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, a 550-bed operation.
“My program was very supportive and understanding, considering the fact that my training and style was originally surgery oriented,” he said. “I had to change a lot, and the faculty in that program helped me in achieving certification.”
