An ophthalmologist provides comprehensive eye and vision care including diagnosing, monitoring, and medically or surgically treating all ocular and visual disorders. They prescribe vision services including glasses and contact lenses.

In cooperation with Upper Peninsula Eye Specialists,ophthalmology services are now available at Portage Health. Ophthalmology includes diagnosing and treating serious diseases and conditions of the eye, performing complex and delicate eye surgery and prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses.
