Emergencies happen without warning. When they happen to you, the role of our Emergency Department is to provide superior care to you and your family.

The department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by board-certified physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses.

Located in close proximity to state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging, laboratory and surgery services, we have access to all that we need for efficient medical care.

Ambulance Services

Aside from our 24-hour emergency department, Portage Health is actively involved in promptly responding to emergency needs of the community.

Mercy EMS: Co-owned by Portage Health and Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital, Mercy EMS provides emergency transport assistance to the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
