    American Hospital Association (AHA)

     

     
         The AHA is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Close to 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 37,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.

    Michigan Hospital Association (MHA)

     

     
      The MHA is composed of a blend of hospitals and health systems, and other organizations involved in health care. MHA’s job is to represent these groups at the national, state and regional levels. That most often means before the legislative and regulatory agencies, and with the media. MHA’s primary tools are education, policy development and advocacy.

         The Joint Commission has been accrediting hospitals for more than 50 years. Its accreditation is a nationwide seal of approval that indicates a hospital meets high performance standards.

      Our Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is the leader in setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education and research.

    American Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

     

      Our pulmonary rehab program is accredited by the American Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The AACVPR is is the foremost community of practitioners who want to shape the science and standards of practice in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation.

    ISMP CHEERS Award for Subscribers 

     

     

    The Institute for Safe Medication Practices Subscriber Award is presented to an organization that over time demonstrates the effective use of the ISMP Medication Safety Alert!, the quarterly “Action Agenda,” and other ISMP publications in improving medication safety.

     

      Portage Health received the CHEERS award from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices who recognized the efforts of Portage Health's medication administration process (MAP) team in identifying potential risks and implementing medication safety practices.

         The Press Ganey Compass Award is given to facilities that show the most improvement over two years in overall patient satisfaction.      Portage Health Medical Group was honored for implementing several programs that significantly enhanced the quality of service received by its patients

    Michigan Peer Review Organization (MPRO) 2007 Governor’s Award

     

     
      The Governor’s Award is presented each year to hospitals throughout the state of Michigan that actively promote quality improvement and safety enhancement initiatives.   Portage Health earned the honor for its successful efforts to improve surgical care and provide appropriate care measures, which are part of an ongoing, organization-wide initiative to provide excellent healthcare.
       

    2007 Build Michigan Award

     

     
      The Build Michigan Awards recognize excellence in commercial excellence throughout the state.   Yalmer Mattila Contracting was honored for its PortagePointe Rehabilitation/Addition project located in Hancock. Yalmer Mattila's attention to detail and quality helped PortagePointe realize its "Eden" philosophy of healthcare which focuses on dignity, health and a sense of control for residents.
       

    25th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards

     

     
      Sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report, the Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards is the nation’s oldest and largest healthcare advertising awards competition. A national panel of judges reviewed more than 4,400 entries this year.   In the Under 200 Beds division, Portage Health earned the following awards:
